About Me
I am Rachel Ragg, a freelance features writer specialising in parenting, human interest and lifestyle. My writing career began with a weekly column for the Big Issue in Scotland, where I covered most subjects from killer bird-baths to blow-up bras. Since then, my work has been published in numerous newspapers and magazines (The Times, The Daily Telegraph, The Independent, The Daily Mail /Femail, The Ecologist, Junior, Early Years among others).
After my first child was born nine years ago, I started writing for Junior magazine (so having children was a good career move after all). When my own children were younger, I could write features about them – but now that they are at school, my sheer existence is quite embarrassing enough for them, so I now save the more personal anecdotes for my blog.
I hope you enjoy it.

Hi Rachel, I just wanted you to know I think you are a very cool person. It comes through in your writing style and in the photographs of you. And your anecdotes about parenting and life in general are lighthearted and refreshing. I am just a penguin so calling you a cool person is an extremely high honor. Your Pal, Pengey Penguin
Hey, I’ve never had a comment from a penguin before. I didn’t even know that penguins could read. I hope you are on the avian gifted and talented register…
